A Sunday Morning at Church
The sun shone through the windows of the Westside Community Church which threw beams of light across the wooden pews. Hymns of praise echoed off the high ceiling as the congregation sung in acapella, harmonious union. There was a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with pews arranged in neat rows that faced the altar. The altar itself was adorned with flowers which created a peaceful and sacred space.
This was a place that encouraged reflection and reverence. Olivia sat between her parents as she tugged at the fancy dress her mother had picked out. She always found the sermons a bit dull, even if the message of faith and goodness was important. She gazed up at the ceiling and wondered what Jesus would say to make faith feel truly alive. As the service neared its close, Olivia fidgeted with the hem of her skirt. She spied her younger brother playing with toy figurines at the end of the pew near the aisle and stifled a giggle.

Hanson brushed her long brown hair away from her green eyes. Of
average height and build for her age, she usually dressed in
modest, stylish clothes, and always wore a small cross necklace.
She came from an affluent family and lived in an upscale
neighborhood. Ethan, her younger brother was her only sibling. The
Hanson’s were a close-knit family that spent a lot of time together
and they attended church every Sunday or at least tried to attend
every Sunday. Her parents had always emphasized the importance of
faith in their lives.
