Emma's Dilemma

The eBook format will be available in January, 2026. Paper format will be available Spring, 2026.

In a small-town high school, fifteen-year-old Emma Richards meets Gabriella Lombardi at school—a girl whose gentle courage makes faith feel like belonging, just as Emma’s lifelong best friend Bailey pulls her toward a party crowd that promises attention, escape, and the illusion of being wanted.

Emma is caught in a triangle of devotion: Bailey (her first best friend), Noah (her first possible boyfriend), and God (her grounding truth). Bailey’s increasing dependence turns love into leverage, subtle guilt, threats of abandonment, and social punishment when Emma won’t comply. Emma’s faith asks her to set boundaries with kindness and courage, but her fear of losing Bailey, and being publicly labeled “boring,” “judgy,” or a traitor, keeps her wavering.

Gabriella tries to keep Emma focused on her faith, however, the romance conflict sharpens the stakes: Emma wants Noah but pursuing him means stepping into a version of herself that is unfamiliar to her. Emma must learn that real love doesn’t demand self-erasure, and at the party, she must act decisively (and visibly) to protect Bailey who is spiraling out of control. Emma realizes Bailey's party ways are not for her..
